چکیده

Using a three-band Hubbard Hamiltonian we calculate within the random-phase approximation the spin susceptibility, x(q,v), and nuclear magnetic resonance spin-lattice relaxation rate, 1/T1, in the normal state of the triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 and obtain quantitative agreement with experimental data. Most importantly, we find that due to spin-orbit coupling the out-of-plane component of the spin susceptibility x becomes at low temperatures two times larger than the in-plane one. As a consequence, strong incommensurate antiferromagnetic fluctuations of the quasi-one-dimensional xz and yz bands point into the z-direction. Our results provide further evidence for the importance of spin fluctuations for triplet superconductivity in Sr2RuO4.

Unconventional superconductivity and magnetism in Sr2RuO4 and related materials

We review the normal and superconducting state properties of the unconventional triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 with an emphasis on the analysis of the magnetic susceptibility and the role played by strong electronic correlations. In particular, we show that the magnetic activity arises from the itinerant electrons in the Ru d-orbitals and a strong magnetic anisotropy occurs (χ+− < χ) due to spi...

Strong spin-orbit coupling effects on the Fermi surface of Sr2RuO4 and Sr2RhO4.

We present a first-principles study of spin-orbit coupling effects on the Fermi surface of Sr2RuO4 and Sr2RhO4. For nearly degenerate bands, spin-orbit coupling leads to a dramatic change of the Fermi surface with respect to nonrelativistic calculations; as evidenced by the comparison with experiments on Sr2RhO4, it cannot be disregarded. For Sr2RuO4, the Fermi surface modifications are more su...

The role of spin - orbit coupling for the superconducting state in Sr 2 RuO 4

– The odd-parity spin-triplet Cooper pairing states show a six-fold degeneracy for a quasi-two-dimensional electron system. In this article we show how spin-orbit coupling can lift this degeneracy for Sr2RuO4 taking the band structure based on the three relevant t2gorbitals of the Ru-ions into account. The stabilized state depends on the relative strength of the pairing interaction. We show tha...

Spin-orbital entanglement and the breakdown of singlets and triplets in Sr2RuO4 revealed by spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.

Spin-orbit coupling has been conjectured to play a key role in the low-energy electronic structure of Sr2RuO4. By using circularly polarized light combined with spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we directly measure the value of the effective spin-orbit coupling to be 130±30  meV. This is even larger than theoretically predicted and comparable to the energy splitting of the dx...
